A chunky dinosaur rears up over your child's name, and the name itself is the body of the topper, cut in solid raised letters. No spindly bits to snap off, no glitter card to sag. It is one rigid piece that stands on the icing and stays standing while six children lean over the cake at once.
Type the name exactly as you would like it and that is how it prints: capitals, lowercase, whatever you send us. Personalisation is free and does not slow the order down. It is about 15 cm (6 in) wide, with the height rising a little for longer names.
Behind the name is a socket moulded into the base, sized for a standard upright cake fountain, the ice fountain type sold in supermarkets and party shops. The dino ends up backlit by a column of sparks, which makes a considerably better photograph than a candle does.

- It is a firework, so it needs an adult on it: light it, stay with it, follow the instructions on the packet. Upright cake fountains only, never a thin handheld sparkler.
Each topper is 3D printed to order in PLA, a rigid plant-based plastic, in our two-person studio in Spain. Ten colours in all: black, grey, blue, pink, purple, yellow and four rainbow blends coded RGP, RBG, RYB and BBP, which shift shade across the letters and look properly prehistoric in the best way.
It is a decoration and not food, so it comes off before the cake is cut. Then it lives on the shelf, and that is the difference between this and a card topper: one goes in the recycling, the other turns up in a box of keepsakes fifteen years later.
The tail runs back along the top of the lettering and braces it, which is why the letters do not flex when a child grabs the topper straight off the cake, and they always do.
Questions about this topper
Do you correct my spelling or print it as typed?
We print the name precisely as you type it in the personalisation box, capitals and lowercase included, and we do not tidy up spacing or spelling. Have one more look before you order. Personalised toppers cannot be returned unless they are faulty, and a typo we copied faithfully does not count.
Is the fountain included with the dinosaur?
No, this is the topper and holder only. Buy a standard upright cake fountain, sold as an ice fountain in UK supermarkets and party shops, and drop it into the socket behind the name. It must be the upright cone or cylinder type, never a thin handheld sparkler on a wire.
Are 3D printed cake toppers safe to put on icing?
It is not sold as food safe and it is not edible. PLA is a rigid plant-based plastic, and the topper is a decoration that rests on the icing and is lifted off before the cake is cut. If you would rather it did not touch the icing, stand it on a small plaque or baking parchment.
Can I have the age on it as well as the name?
Not on this design, which is built around the name alone so it works at four, seven or ten. If you want a number on the cake too, our football topper carries a name and an age, and the bunny and teddy designs put a large age figure next to the name.
Will it still be around for next year's cake?
It should be. This one is rigid printed plastic, so it does not curl in the fridge or tear as it comes off the cake. Wipe the icing away with a damp cloth, dry it, and it goes on a bedroom shelf or back on next year's cake. It is a keepsake, not a single-use decoration.
When should I order for a dinosaur party?
Roughly two weeks in advance. Toppers are made to order and dispatched from Spain in 1-3 working days, then tracked UK delivery takes 4-7 working days at EUR 8.95, the EU 3-6 at EUR 6.95 and Spain 2-4 at EUR 3.95, free on orders of EUR 35 or more.
